Introducing the sport to new players and creating opportunities to take part.
Athletic development · The Gambia
A new sport.
A shared beginning.
Introducing Flag Football to schools and young players across The Gambia—through training, tournaments and the community that grows around the game.
Grassroots Flag Football
Learning the game.
Finding a community.
Gambia Garden partnered with IFAF, NFL Africa and GAAF to roll out grassroots Flag Football programs around the country. Schools and youth players were introduced to the sport through training camps, tournaments and opportunities to play together.
The initiative reflects our wider purpose: helping individuals develop their potential by connecting them with people, mentors and resources. Sport gives those connections a place to begin.
School tour & community camps
From the classroom
to the playing field.
Our team toured local schools, giving presentations that introduced students to Flag Football and invited them to take part.
We also organized several camps where playing football, sharing food and drinks, and spending time together were all part of the experience. The aim was to create a welcoming place to learn the sport and build connections.
